The Position

As Scientific Affairs Lead Obesity and Liver Health, you will play a pivotal leadership role in Global Medical Affairs operational excellence for a defined cluster of assets and/or indications. Reporting to the Head of Pipeline Medical Affairs, you will drive innovation and execution ensuring alignment with overarching brand and business objectives.

Tasks & responsibilities

* Lead global Scientific Affairs for Obesity & Liver Health, providing leadership, coaching, and development to a team of Scientific Relationship Managers.

* Define and execute global stakeholder engagement strategies across key external audiences, including thought leaders, scientific societies, advocacy organizations, and patient communities; drive stakeholder identification, mapping, prioritization, and engagement plans while fostering strategic partnerships and maintaining a deep understanding of the external scientific and healthcare landscape.

* Lead the development and execution of the global congress strategy across Obesity & Liver Health, including scientific presence, investment priorities, stakeholder engagement plans, and measures of success.

* Drive excellence in scientific stakeholder engagement, insight generation, and congress planning by establishing best practices, capabilities, and processes across Obesity & Liver Health.

* Ensure high-quality insights are generated, synthesized, and shared to inform priorities, stakeholder engagement strategies, evidence generation, and cross-functional decision-making.

* Partner closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, Corporate Affairs, and other Therapeutic Areas to ensure a coordinated and impactful presence at major scientific congresses; represent Global Medical Affairs in cross-functional forums and external interactions, strengthening scientific leadership and organizational visibility.

* Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous development.

Requirements

* Advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced scientific training), with deep clinical/scientific expertise, a strong foundation in Medical Affairs, and significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

* Experience in obesity, cardiometabolic disease, liver disease, or related therapeutic areas, alongside a proven track record in brand strategy development and execution, including successful product launches and lifecycle management.

* Strong understanding of scientific stakeholder engagement, including thought leader strategy, scientific societies, advocacy organizations, and patient engagement, with demonstrated experience identifying, mapping, prioritizing, and engaging external stakeholders to support Medical Affairs objectives.

* Experience generating, synthesizing, and communicating external insights to inform organizational priorities and decision-making, and developing and executing stakeholder engagement and/or congress strategies at a global level.

* Proven ability to build strategic partnerships and engage effectively with external experts, healthcare professionals, scientific societies, advocacy organizations, and other healthcare stakeholders; excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across complex, cross-functional matrix organizations.

* Demonstrated success leading, building, and developing high-performing, geographically dispersed or global teams, including coaching, talent development, and organizational capability building; strong leadership capabilities with the ability to develop and communicate a clear vision, inspire teams, manage complexity, and lead through change and ambiguity.

* Track record of driving organizational priorities through others, balancing strategic thinking with operational execution; experience building or transforming Medical Affairs capabilities, operating models, stakeholder engagement approaches, or congress planning processes.
