Sales Manager – Food & International Trade

Kartago GmbH is looking for a motivated and commercially driven Sales Manager to join our team in Germany.

Kartago is an international food company specializing in dates, dried fruits, Mediterranean food products, and food ingredients, serving retailers, distributors, wholesalers, and industrial customers across Europe and international markets.

Position Overview

The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing new business, managing existing customer relationships, and supporting the continued growth of Kartago GmbH.

We are looking for someone who is highly commercial and proactive, but also comfortable working in a dynamic environment where the role goes beyond sales. The successful candidate will also support logistics coordination, commercial analysis, customer follow-up, and other day-to-day operational activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop new customers and business opportunities in Germany and other European markets.
- Manage and grow relationships with existing customers.
- Identify potential retailers, distributors, wholesalers, foodservice operators, and industrial customers.
- Prepare offers, pricing proposals, presentations, and customer negotiations.
- Follow up on leads, samples, quotations, and ongoing commercial opportunities.
- Maintain a structured sales pipeline and provide regular sales forecasts.
- Analyze sales performance, margins, pricing, customer profitability, and market opportunities.
- Conduct market and competitor research.
- Coordinate with suppliers, warehouses, logistics partners, and customers to ensure smooth order execution and deliveries.
- Assist with shipment planning, inventory monitoring, and logistics when required.
- Work closely with management on commercial strategy and business development initiatives.
- Support other operational and analytical tasks depending on the needs of the business.

Candidate Profile

- Minimum 3 years of professional sales experience.
- Strong business development and negotiation skills.
- Experience in the food industry, FMCG, food ingredients, retail, or food distribution is a strong advantage.
- Fluent English is required.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working with Excel, reporting, pricing, margins, and commercial data.
- Able to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
- Independent, proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with international trade, import/export, or logistics is a plus.
