Dr. Meike Saul at the II. Medical Clinic and Polyclinic, Center for Oncology, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).Your tasks:Expressing and purifying selected membrane proteins and incorporating them into synthetic lipid vesiclesPreparing and characterising protein-functionalised vesicles, including assessment of vesicle properties, protein incorporation and surface presentationComparing the cellular uptake of protein-functionalised vesicles, appropriate control vesicles and natural EVs in medulloblastoma and non-malignant brain cell modelsLearning and applying established workflows for EV handling, isolation and quantitative uptake assays, including fluorescence microscopy and image analysisAnalysing and interpreting results, presenting your findings and contributing to scientific publicationsThis position is to be filled with 65 % of the regular weekly working hours and temporary for three years in accordance with the WissZeitVG.A Master’s degree or equivalent in biochemistry, biotechnology, biophysics, chemistry, molecular biology or a related disciplineA strong interest in vesicle engineering and membrane protein biochemistry.

Practical experience in at least one relevant area, such as liposomes, synthetic vesicles, membrane protein purification or protein reconstitution, is particularly welcome. Experience with lipid nanoparticles may also be relevantWillingness to learn EV handling, cell-based uptake assays and quantitative imaging. Previous experience with EVs is not requiredA careful and reliable approach to experimental work, curiosity and a collaborative working style, including open discussion of results and methodological challengesVery good written and spoken EnglishImmunity statusPlease note that employment is contingent upon proof of immunization or immunity against the measles virus, in accordance with applicable legal and medical requirements.
