Integrated Metallic Nanomaterial System Research Group at Hamburg University of Technology is seeking a motivated Research Associate (m/f/d) to join our team. In this role, you will conduct research within the DFG-funded project “Mechanically Adaptive Nanoporous Metals Enabled by Reversible Metal Electrodeposition.
You will explore mechanically adaptive nanoporous metals whose stiffness and strength can be reversibly tuned through metal electrodeposition. You will investigate the underlying structure–property relationships using in situ mechanical testing, electrochemistry, and advanced microstructural characterization, contributing to the development of adaptive and multifunctional metallic nanomaterials.
YOUR TASKS
- Developing and fabricating nanoporous metals or alloys with tunable pore sizes
- Structure analysis on nanoporous metals with/without deposited metals
- Mechanical characterization (using in-situ dynamic mechanical analysis, dilatomer, and universal mechanical testing devices)
- Developing and understanding the links between structure and tunable mechanical properties
- Share your findings through publications and engage with the research community and public as well as work towards pursuing a doctorate
