Mass spectrometry scientist (f/m/d)
Mass spectrometry imaging and oxidative lipid profiling
E13 (TV-L), full-time position (39.5 hours/week)

CeMOS operates a leading-edge platform for mass spectrometry (3x Bruker timsTOF, FT-ICR, LMD, 2x cybio felix, CPU- and GPU-clusters), focusing on MALDI imaging, (single-)cell analysis, and LC-MS-based omics. CeMOS- interdisciplinary, highly innovative and application-oriented research is conducted in close collaboration with renowned industry partners. CeMOS is involved in several large research consortia and CRCs (e.g., Heidelberg University and University Clinics in Mannheim and Heidelberg) and EU-OPENSCREEN. As part of a project with a leading SMEs, CeMOS is developing an integrated workflow for the detection and characterization of redox states in cells using mass spectrometry (imaging). We are seeking a proven expert in the field of mass spectrometry (imaging) and (spatial) lipidomics/metabolomics who, together with our industry partner, will play a key role in advancing and shaping this innovative technology platform.
Development of a mass spectrometry (imaging) platform for oxidative lipid profiling in cells and tissues, e.g., in cancer and inflammation models
Independent data analysis (including use of R or python)
Presentation of results, publications, writing of project reports
Contributions to project proposals, project management, liaison with industry partners
Goal-oriented personality with excellent track record and a very good (equivalent to German magna cum laude or better) PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, physics or closely related fields; in case the PhD is not yet finished, at least the thesis must have been submitted.
• -3 years of hands-on experience in mass spectrometry, ideally in MS imaging, as demonstrated by ideally -3 or more mass spectrometry-related peer-reviewed publications in respected journals with impact factor >4 incl. >1 publication as first author - all in the last 5 years.
Proven -2 years of hands-on experience in mass spectrometry-based lipid/metabolite analysis
Experience with ion mobility-MS and/or magnetic resonance-MS is a plus
Programming skills (in Python and/or R) are a plus
You enjoy working in international teams, have technical skills, and enjoy interdisciplinary work in an applied research field with numerous industry and clinical partners.

The employment contract is for a limited period of two years.
