What to ExpectTesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development of electrical interconnection processes for our cutting-edge battery products. In this role you will drive technological advancement in this discipline as part of a small, specialized team. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles – battery cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.What You’ll Do- Design electrical interconnection processes & equipment such as laser welding- Provide interconnect Design for Manufacturability (DFM) & Reliability (DFR) input to product designers- Validate and optimize processes from early prototype builds through full volume production- Drive proof-of-concept to green light new and novel methods, technologies, and suppliers- Evolve the electrical interconnection knowledge base through experimentation & benchmarkingWhat You’ll Bring- 3+ years of engineering or equivalent relevant experience- Experience developing and implementing electrical interconnect processes and equipment in high-volume production (laser welding, ultrasonic wire bonding, ultrasonic welding, soldering)- Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental design- Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experienceTesla is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
